LORENA TIFT PORFIDO
LITTLETON, NH Lorena T. Porfido, 76, of Lilac Lane, passed away on March 5, 2005 at the Littleton Regional Hospital.
Lorena was born on June 13, 1928, a daughter to Wylie Lee and Permelia (Raymond) Tift in Taunton, MA. She was graduated from Littleton High School.
Lorena was employed by the New England Telephone Company until the late 1940s. She married Frank W. Porfido, Sr. in 1947 and they had six children. Together they operated the family business, Porfidos Market, on Main Street in Littleton for many years. Lorena was a parishioner of the St. Rose of Lima Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters, and a past Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of the National Alliance of the Mentally Ill of New Hampshire (NAMI-NH). She had one of the first successful kidney transplants in 1966 and continued to counsel potential and existing kidney transplant recipients in the future. Lorena was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and generously gave of herself to care for any and all of her family whenever necessary. Lorena had a deep and endearing faith that kept her going through many years of trials and tribulations. She had a wonderful sense of humor and brought a kindness of spirit to the world around her. She will be deeply missed.
Lorena leaves her husband of 58 years, Frank W. Porfido, Sr. of Littleton, NH; two sons, Emilio Rocky and Ashlea Porfido and Frank W. and Julie Porfido, Jr., both of Littleton, NH; four daughters, Permelia Bunni Lindorff of Manchester, NH, Carmela Cami and Lenny Quail of Littleton, NH, Violet and Bill Hatch of Gorham, NH, and Lorena Lori F. Porfido of Santa Rosa, CA; eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Raymond Tift and Wylie Tift, as well as one granddaughter, Tishara Lindorff Sears, predeceased Lorena.
SERVICES The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, March 8, 2005 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 9th at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Church, with Rev. Fr. Daniel J. Sinibaldi as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Rose Cemetery. Active pall bearers include grandsons, Tyler Quail, Seth Quail, Dylan Chase, Devin Lindorff, Keenan Hatch, and Cagney Hatch.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in her memory, to the National Kidney Foundation of New Hampshire, 814 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03101.
