Lorraine J. (Hannaford) Herling, 68, of Manchester, died November 2, 2009 at the Elliot Hospital. She was born in Manchester on October 29, 1941, the daughter of Clyde and Alice (Barry) Hannaford and had been a lifelong resident of the city. She had worked as a dietician at the Veterans Administration Hospital for fifteen years until her retirement. She loved to play bingo and was a bingo volunteer at St. Cecilia's Hall for many years. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Hannaford, Sr. who died in 2006. Family members include her husband of 40 years, Frederick "Fred" Herling; three sons, Kevin Meekings, John Herling and Dennis Herling, all of Manchester; two daughters, Donna Weingart of Hooksett and Carol Meekins of Manchester; her step-father, Charles Emery of Hooksett; 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; five sisters, Pauline Bamford of Manchester, Susan Bilodeau of FL; Diane Mason of Hooksett, Lorraine Martin and Christine Hannaford both of Manchester; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street with a memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 8:00 PM.
