Lorraine A. (Potvin) St. Laurent, 86, of Goffstown, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2011 at the Elliot Hospital on what would have been her 61st wedding anniversary.
She was born in Manchester on February 7, 1925, the daughter of Emory and Eva (Champagne) Potvin and had been a Goffstown resident since 1964. During World War II, she proudly served her country as a welder. In 1950 she married Kenneth St. Laurent and was an Air Force wife raising four children, often times alone. She served as Vice President and later President of the NCO Wives Club and wrote a weekly article for the Griffiss Air Force Base newspaper in Rome New York. She coached Little League and girls softball and was always the âKool Aid Mom.â She spent many years as a waitress at the China Dragon restaurant and also worked as office assistant at the Maple Avenue Elementary School in Goffstown.
In Her Life: She was predeceased by her husband in 1999. Family members include two sons, John St. Laurent and his wife Nancy of Chichester, and Kevin St. Laurent and his wife Rochelle of Contoocook; two daughters, Diane Allen and her husband Frank of Goffstown, and Cindy Kos of Goffstown; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Monday from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:00 in Ste. Marie Church. Committal services will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Donations may be made the Childrenâs Hospital Boston, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115.
