LOUIS IRVIN SANBORN
FRANCONIA, NH â Louis Irvin Sanborn, 64, died peacefully at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on Thursday, March 28th.
Louis was born in Littleton, NH on June 29, 1948 to Irvin Clair Sanborn and Eleanor (Wilkins) Sanborn. He grew up in Bethlehem, NH and attended St. Johnsbury Trade School from which he graduated in 1966.
Louis's first marriage was to Cheryl Wentworth. They had two children; a daughter, Heidi, and a son, Duane.
In 1983 Louis married Mary (McLachlin) Sanborn and became a dad to stepdaughters, Amanda and Abigail Jones.
Louis was a member of the Franconia Lions Club and served a term as president. He was a founding member of the Easton Fire Department and a volunteer fireman for both Easton and Franconia. Louis enjoyed many years in local musical groups with his best friend, Brad Parker, and for many years at Hayseed Bluegrass Festivals was the sound man.
Louis retired after 33 years from the Franconia Highway Department.
He and Mary discovered the many joys of visiting the coast of Maine with his brother-in-law Robert McLachlin and Robert's wife, Anne, on occasions they cruised down-east coast with their good friends, Peter and Sharon Mountain.
Louis loved their golden retrievers, first Ben, and more recently, Addy.
Louis was predeceased by his father, Irvin, his mother, Eleanor, and his brother, Douglas. He leaves his wife of nearly 30 years, Mary; daughter Heidi and her husband, Jeff Bolduc; son, Duane and his wife, Debra; stepdaughters, Amanda Jones and Abigail Jones; grandchildren, Brittni Bolduc, Justin and Nicholas Whipple, Corey and Evan Sanborn, and 2 step-grandchildren, Nick and Becky Ramirez.
Louis will be greatly missed by many close friends and a large group of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the care and friendship that he found at ACHS, especially his doctor, Phil Lawson and his nurse, Melissa Hodge.

SERVICES -- Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home located at 101 Union Street in Littleton. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Lyn Winter officiating.
