Mr. Louis Swapinski, 87, of Manchester died Sunday August 6, 2006 at the Elliot Hospital following a short period of declining health. Born on January 28, 1919 in Stephen, Minnesota the son of the late Anthony and Martha (Pryz) Swapinski. He was educated in Duluth, Minnesota area schools. He was a resident of Manchester for the past 61 years. Mr. Swapinski worked as a salesman at Anderson Little for years before he retired at the age of 65. He also owned Lous Market a neighborhood grocery store from 1949 to 1972. He served in the Us Army Air Corp during World War II, from 1942 to 1946. He was a corporal with the 577th Air Material Squadron. He was a member of the NOA Club at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manchester. He was a devoted grandfather. Mr. Swapinski enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ellen (Tziros) Swapinski of Manchester, daughter, Nancy Buckland of Manchester, 1 granddaughter, nieces and nephews. Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30am. His Funeral Service will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Manchester on Thursday at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester.
