Louise Langton Upson, 89, died on April 18, 2023 at Bentley Commons in Bedford, NH surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Concord, NH the daughter of the late Alfred and Clara Larochelle.
She graduated from Concord High School and Notre Dame De Lourdes Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. She attended Boston College, UNH and St. Anselm. She served in the U.S. Air Force nurse corps as a first lieutenant. She had a long and varied career in nursing, including working as an ICU nurse at Elliot Hospital, as a NH state nursing home inspector, and as a nurse at the Goffstown women’s prison. She was an active member of Concord High School Alumnae Class of 1952, the Notre Dame Hospital Nurses Alumnae, The Red Hat Society, and a past president of AARP Chapter 4101. She was also a volunteer for hospice in Naples, FL. In her later years, she was a member of the welcoming committee at Bedford Falls and was instrumental in forming the Parkinsons and Grief support groups at Bentley Commons. She will be remembered as a charismatic person who was always willing to give a hug and a smile.
She was a communicant of St. Pius Parish. In her life she enjoyed her nursing career immensely, loved traveling, knitting, reading, and keeping up with her numerous friends through email, phone calls and letter correspondences. Above all else, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished time spent with her family.
Louise was predeceased by her husband James W. Langton, as well as her second husband, W.C. “Bill” Upson, her son Mark Langton, her sister Pauline Dionne Tuttle, and her devoted companion Gene Tatham. She leaves behind a daughter, Kathy Hayes and her husband Jack of Raymond, NH; a son Bruce Langton and his wife Lynn of North Andover, MA; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Langton Brome of Hooksett, NH; seven treasured grandchildren, Eric, Todd, Angela, Courtney, Lindsay, Meagan and Benjamin; ten great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5-7PM on Friday, April 21 at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10AM on Saturday, April 22 at St. Pius X Parish, 575 Candia Road, Manchester, NH. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery’s Mausoleum.
