Lucien Lou J. Normand, 80, formerly of Manchester, died January 8, 2005 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton. He was born in Manchester on October 22, 1924, the youngest of eleven children born to Arthur and Mary (Bernier) Normand and had been a resident of the city for most of his life. Later in life, he resided in Hampton Beach and had been a resident of the Veterans Home in Tilton for the past two years. He was a World War II and Korean War Air Force Veteran. He also was a 20 year veteran with the New Hampshire Air National Guard at Grenier Field and Pease Air Force Base, where he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He had also been a real estate agent and had worked for the City of Manchester in the Tax Assessors Department. Lou was a member of American Legion Jutras Post. He loved to read, take walks on the Hampton Beach boardwalk and listen to Jazz music. Family members include three sons, James Jim Normand of Manchester, Thomas Normand of Orlando, FL and Charles Normand of Jamestown, RI; two daughters, Nancy Normand of Gilmanton and Susan Cole of Yarmouth, ME; his former wife and close friend, Lucille (Beaudette) Normand of Manchester; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Normand of Manchester and Maurice Normand of Newport News, VA; a sister, Rita Proulx of Manchester; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. A Memorial Gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11:00 in the Church of the Transfiguration. Urn burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
