Lucille G. (Chapdelaine) Roy, 71, of 24 Mountain Road, Goffstown, died February 18, 2000 at Catholic Medical Center following a long illness. She was born in Goffstown on June 9, 1928, the daughter of Rock and Alice (Benoit) Chapdelaine and had remained faithful and proud of her Franco-American and Abenaki Indian heritage. She had been a Manchester resident for most of her life., returning to Goffstown in 1977. She was a 1943 graduate of St. Augustin School and attended St. Anthony High School. In 1948, she married Richard Roy who died in 1979. She worked for many years at Evangeline Shoe and other local shoe shops. She retired from WaToy restaurant in Pindarville. She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church. She was a regular participant in the Elliot Hospital Adult Day Care Center. Family members include her daughter, Mrs. Theresa Peters of St. Johnsbury, VT; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Rita Wood of Amado, AZ and Mrs. Anne Soucy of Hudson; six brothers, Henri Chapdelaine of Manchester, Paul Chapdelaine of Londonderry, Richard Chapdelaine, Maurice Chapdelaine, Donald Chapdelaine and Roland Chapdelaine all of Manchester and many nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. After cremation, a memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:00 in St. Anthony Church.
