FRANCONIA, NH  Lucy Aldrich passed away on June 22, 2007 at the age of 97, in the Lafayette Center.

Lucy Jane McKean was born at home in Landaff, NH, a daughter to Hattie Emma (Pike) and George Dow McKean on November 11, 1909. She was the oldest of six children born to this couple. Lucy lived in Haverhill, NH while growing up, graduating in 1928 from the Haverhill Academy.

While working in Franconia, NH as a telephone operator, Lucy met Everett Waldo Taylor and they were married in 1929. Three children were born to them; Gaylord Everett (G.E.), Arlene Jane, and Patricia Alice. In 1947 Lucy became the chief telephone operator in Franconia.

In March, 1952, Lucy married Harry Aldrich. Some highlights of their 31 years of marriage included the opening of the Aldrich Supermarket in Franconia in 1962, retiring and moving to their newly built home in Sugar Hill, and many trips to Bermuda, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and Hawaii. Together they spent several winters in Texas at Lucys sons home. Lucy enjoyed many additional winters in San Angelo, Texas, after Harry's death, until her health hindered her traveling.

Lucy was a member of the Franconia Community Church of Christ, serving many years as Financial Secretary for the church and a member of the Willing Workers. She was an associate member of the Heights Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas. Lucy was honored in 2004 with a letter of congratulations for 80 years of service in the Grange organization, where through the years; she held every office in the Lafayette Grange in Franconia. She was also a member of the Greenleaf Civics Club.

Lucy was a wonderful, loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was very attentive to all of her family. She loved keeping in touch by letters and postcards. She was a great cook and enjoyed preparing delicious and nutritious meals for all who visited.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husbands, Everett Taylor in 1963 and Harry Aldrich in 1983. Also preceding her were two half brothers, Lee B. McKean and Charles Dow McKean; a half sister, Ethel Titus; two sisters, Edith Chase and Winifred Miller; two brothers, Lyle McKean and Glen McKean; a daughter, Lucy in 1953; and two step-daughters, Ruby Demers and Jean Arey.

Lucy is survived by three children, G.E. and Pat Taylor, Sr. of San Angelo, TX; Arlene Jean Hunter of Memphis, NY; and Patricia Correnti of Sugar Hill, NH. Also surviving Lucy are 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Marjorie Aldrich Hebb of Lebanon, NH; numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

SERVICES  Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 27th at 4:00 p.m. at the Franconia Community Church of Christ, with Rev. Gary Hart officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
