Lucy J. Burnham, 75, died September 18, 2019, peacefully at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center in Manchester, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Manchester on November 17, 1943, to the late Arthur H. Burnham, Sr., and Aurelie V. (Bellefeuille) Burnham. A lifelong resident of Manchester, she was educated in local schools, and graduated from Manchester High School West in 1962. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service. Her interests included history, politics, travel and classic movies.
Her loving devotion to family â as a daughter, a sister and an aunt was legendary. Affectionately referred to as "Auntie Jo-Jo" by the newest generation of family members, she enjoyed spending time in recent years with her great-nephews Benjamin Vattes of Concord and Luke Vattes of Manchester, and great-niece Julia Vattes, also of Manchester. And she loved hearing stories, receiving pictures and even occasionally visiting the Texas contingent of relatives, great-nephews Cody Burnham and Hudson Burnham, and great-nieces Allison Burnham and Kennedy Burnham.
Other family members include her sister Dorothy Vattes and husband John of Manchester; nieces Wendy Vattes of Manchester and Lori Vattes of Jacksonville, FL; nephews Mark Vattes of Concord, Shane Vattes of Manchester, Jason Burnham of Saginaw, TX; and Jeffrey Burnham of Azle, TX; and sister-in-law Debbra Burnham Gilbreth of North Richland Hills, TX. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur H. Burnham, Jr.
SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine Church, 207 Hemlock Street, in Manchester. Committal prayers and interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, in Bedford, NH.
