M. Edward Matta, 71, of 11 Wendover Way, Bedford, NH, died Monday November 26, 2001 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. He was born in Brockton, MA on May 18, 1930, the son of George and Anna (Massod) Matta. He was a graduate of Brockton High School and Franklin Technical School. He served in the United States Air Force as an aviation mechanical instructor. He was currently self-employed as a representative in the teleradiography field. Prior to that, Mr. Matta was district manager for Picker X-ray, New England Regional Manager for Toshiba Corp and Northeast, Mid-Atlantic distributor for Shimadzu. He was a member of the Manchester Country Club. He served on the Bedford School Board and the Bedford Planning Board. Under the sponsorship of the Bedford Lions Club, Mr. Matta along with Ron Gondek and Mark Edelberg founded Bedford Biddy League basketball. Family members include his wife of 49 years, Luisa (Juliano) Matta; two daughters, Susan Matta of Goffstown, NH and Sarah Zampi of Manchester, NH; two sons, David Matta and Jonathan Matta, both of Bedford, NH; five grandchildren; two sisters and five brothers; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 PM. A memorial service will follow on Thursday morning at 11:00 in Bethany Covenant Church, 1 Covenant Way and Rt 101, Bedford, NH.
