MABELLE F. ALEXANDER
LITTLETON, NH Mabelle F. Alexander, age 81, passed away on Monday, December 17th at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, NH, after a long illness.
Born Mabelle Fairchild on December 28, 1925, the daughter of a prominent area lawyer who served multiple terms in Congress, she grew up in Pelham, New York, attended nursing school at Cornell University in upstate New York during the World War II years, and lived in New York City for the first part of her adult life, working as a typist in various offices. She married Arsen V. Alexander, also of New York, in 1958, and became the mother of Benjamin Alexander in 1962. The family moved to Littleton in 1967 and also, until 1978, owned a house in Landaff Center where they spent many summer weekends over the years.
Mabelle loved to write songs and poems, and was an avid supporter of many charitable causes. Her pastimes included gardening, listening to classical music, and attending live theatre.
She is survived by a son, Benjamin Fairchild Alexander, of Baltimore, Maryland; a sister, Elinor Fairchild Stebbins, of Richmond, Virginia; nieces Lorna Stebbins Fossand of Portland, Oregon, and Elin Stebbins Waldal of Carlsbad, California; and nephews Paul Stebbins of Miami, Florida, Rodger Stebbins of Fairfield, Connecticut, and John Stebbins of Tucson, Arizona.

SERVICES Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 21st at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, located at 101 Union Street, Littleton, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephen E. Bascom, Sr. officiating.
