Madeleine S. Morin

Madeleine “Maddy” Simonne Morin, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2022 after a period of declining health with her loving family at her side. Born on March 10, 1928 to the late Roch & Marie Louise (Letendre) Desmarais, she would go on to marry the love of her life, Gerard “Gerry” Morin, with whom she shared 72 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Manchester, NH, Madeleine always had deep roots in the west side where she had many friends and family. Madeleine spent the last decade of employment working as a housekeeper at Catholic Medical Center. Following retirement, she spent her winters in Florida with Gerry for the next 20 years. Together they shared the joy of raising four children, who were the lights of Madeleine’s life.

Those who remember Madeleine will remember a kind, honest, loyal and devout wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She never had a bad word to say about anyone, and those close to her will remember a keen sense of humor that will be sorely missed. Throughout her life, Madeleine enjoyed playing bingo, card games, and was a devoted member of the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality in Manchester. She was also a devout Catholic who found comfort and direction through her faith. Above all else, Madeleine loved her family and friends immensely, and will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Madeleine has joined her husband Gerard Morin; four siblings Alicia Hines, Anita Duhaime, Cecilia Melanson & Fernand Desmarais; as well as her granddaughter Kelly in heaven. She is survived by her daughter Irene Rioux and her husband Ray; daughter Diane Ouellette; son Richard Morin and his wife Catherine; son Mark Morin; 6 grandchildren Eric, Jason, Dana, Derek, Amber & Joseph; 7 great-grandchildren Chantelle, Gunnar, Brielle, Kaitlyn, Ava, Grace & Aurelia; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Calling Hours for Madeleine will be held on Wednesday, October 19 from 9 AM – 10:30 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover St. Manchester, NH. A funeral mass will follow immediately at the Ste. Marie Church in Manchester, followed by cemetery committal prayers at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
