Mai Truong, 73, of Manchester passed away peacefully at home Sunday, November 11th with his loving family surrounding him.
Mai was born in Hue, Vietnam on February 20, 1939, the son of Thu Truong and Heo Thi Van. After graduated from the military school, he joined the military of the Republic of Vietnam; He was quickly promoted to Captain of the Artillery unit. After Vietnam War was over, he was sent to the concentration camp for 8 years. When he got back from the concentration camp and joined his family he filed the paperwork to be considered to move to the US. When that was approved, he moved to the United States in 1998 with 4 of his 9 children and was employed at General Cable as a machine operator until retirement in 2008. Mai loved to read, travel and play with his grandchildren, he also loved to take a long walk everyday with his wife.
Mai is survived by his beloved wife, Sung Thi Le; seven sons, Dung Truong of Vietnam, Le Truong of Vietnam, Tuan Truong of Vietnam, Huy Truong of Manchester, Hoang Truong of Vietnam, Son Truong of Manchester and Phu Truong of Manchester; two daughters, Huyen Van Thi Truong of Vietnam and Thuy Duong Truong of Boston, MA; two brothers, Tung Truong and Huong Truong, both of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Mao Truong of Vietnam and Lanh Thi Truong of Seattle, WA, 24 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
