Manuel J. Silva, 76, of 878 Beech Street, died February 5, 2000, at Catholic Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Lowell, Ma., on June 26, 1923, the son of Mandes and Virginia (Cabral) Silva and had been a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He retired from the Manchester Highway Department with 25 years of service. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran and earned two purple hearts and served at the Battle of the Buldge. Manuel was a member of the American Legion Post 79 and a parishioner of St. Joseph Parish. Family members include his wife of 52 years Rollande (Belisle) Silva of Manchester, two sons, Daniel Silva of Roswell, Georgia and David Silva of Goffstown, two daughters, Nancy Moul of Goshen and Anne Rojas of Manchester, his predeceased daughter, Suzanne Perkins who died in 1997, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: A calling hour will be at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium Chapel, 243 Hanover Street, Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 o'clock with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 o'clock in St. Joseph Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
