Marcelle “Marci” O. Croteau, 101, of Manchester, NH died on Monday, January 10, 2022 after a period of declining health. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
Born in Manchester, NH on April 29, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Eva (Gosselin) Roy.
She attended and graduated from local parochial schools and was a longtime parishioner of St. George’s Parish.
Mrs. Croteau was employed for many years in downtown Manchester as a choicest saleswoman at Pariseau’s Women’s Clothing and Apparel and for an extended period at Lady Grace until her retirement.
She enjoyed skiing, skating, picnics, antiquing, flea markets, gardening and shopping and activities with her daughters.
Marci has a love for life and strong devotion to her family. Her magnetic personality captured young and old and she will be remembered for her kindness and compassion and abundance sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and neighbors.
Members of her family include; her four adult children, Robert Croteau of Litchfield, NH; Charlotte Eddinger of Goffstown, NH; Richard Croteau of Andover, NH; 3 grandchlildren, Jonathan Eddinger,MD of Amherst, NH, Jennifer (Eddinger) Maklan of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Michael Croteau, Attorney of Litchfield, NH and 1 great grandchild Jackson Eddinger of Amherst, NH., and her beloved daughter, Michele Croteau who cared for her for sixteen years until the time of her death. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland J. Croteau.
SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, January 21, from 10 – 11 AM at St. Catherine Church, Hemlock Street in Manchester. A memorial service will follow at 11 AM in the church. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Local Chapter in Bedford, NH.
Much gratitude goes out to Amedysis Hospice of Bedford, NH, and former caregivers.
