Marcellin J. Laliberté, 94, of Lincoln, NH passed away in Georgia on February 8, 2026, while visiting family for the winter months.
He was born in Saint-François-de-la-Riviere-du-Sud (Quebec) Canada on August 4, 1931, one of eleven children, to Jules and Marie-Jeanne (Boulet) Laliberté. He worked on the family farm and in logging camps in northern Canada during his early years, emigrating to NH in 1958 and became a US citizen in 1965. His time in Lincoln, NH included working at the Lincoln Paper Mill, learning his life-long passion for carpentry with Sherwood Avery. He became an accomplished Finish Carpenter, building many homes in the Lincoln area. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Lincoln and achieved the rank of a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Marcellin and Marie-Marthe were foster parents for many years and frequent community activity volunteers. Marcellin enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved sharing his home with visitors and invited many to enjoy the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie-Marthe (Savoie) Laliberté in 2005 and by his longtime companion, Aline Dumont in 2018.
Family members include his daughter, Sylvie (Laliberte) Verdon and her husband Carl Paul Verdon of Alpharetta, GA; three grandsons, Julien, Michel, and Daniel; siblings, Lionel (Constance Morin-deceased), Bibiane (Real Lefebvre)-deceased, Monique (Maurice Laflamme)-deceased, Rodrigue (Therese Lamonde), André (Nicole Lizee), Angèle (Jean-Louis Fournier)-deceased, Camille (Rita Lachance), Calixte (Rose-Anne Goulet), Armande (Guy Delagrave) et Cécile (Herve Poulin); in-laws, Simon Savoie-deceased (Louise Guillemette), Jacques Savoie (Isabelle Theberge), Louise (Savoie) Dorval (Jacques Dorval) and many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 17th at 10:00 in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Lincoln, NH.
