On May 20th, Marcia Ann Castonguay, 76, of Hooksett, passed away peacefully after battling a 6-year Stage IV lung cancer diagnosis but ultimately succumbing to heart failure. She was born in Nashville, TN on November 13, 1946 to Ewell and Lois (Lipp) Callis.
Upon graduation from Central High School in Manchester, Marcia lived around the country before settling back in the Manchester area and raising two beloved children, Marc and Catherine. She met the love of her life Jean in 1989 with whom she shared a lifetime of beautiful memories. She was happiest to be surrounded by her cherished grandchildren.
She worked for many years as Delegation Coordinator and acted as a liaison between departments and legislative members for Hillsborough County before retiring in 2017. She had a passion for traveling, especially Caribbean cruises, and trying her luck at the slots. She loved the beach, celebrating anything with family and friends, her cat “beau beau”, and trips to Las Vegas. Marcia was always ready for a party and would never allow a dull moment.
Marcia's kindness was limitless, and she relished the opportunity to share that with her family at the yearly reunion in Maine. She will always be remembered for her fabulous onion dip, Hawaiian Tropic suntan oil #5, cosmos, and her incredible, all-encompassing hugs. She cared deeply for her family and friends; she always made sure that her people were taken care of and that they had enough.
Being the matriarch of ten siblings, Marcia was truly a fierce force shining in the lives of so many. She will be remembered for the way she cared for others and for her passion for life. She will forever be alive in our heads and hearts.
Marcia is predeceased by her parents, Ewell and Lois, brother Timothy, and sister Suzanne. She is survived by her loving husband Jean, son Marc Rusch (wife Marie) of Goffstown, NH.; their daughter Brianna Benoit (wife Amy) of Derry, NH, and two sons Marcus and Braydon of Goffstown, NH; daughter Catherine Borgel (husband Ernest IV) of Redding, CA; their son Ernest V of Milton, FL and daughter Kira of Shasta Lake City, CA; sisters Marion Miller, Debra Callis, Jen Rust, and Siobhan Dougherty; brothers Michael, David, Chris, and Sean, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
