On Saturday, April 1, 2017, two people who shared a love that is often only dreamt about or seen in movies died peacefully surrounded by family after lengthy illnesses. In life, their love was a powerful force demonstrated daily for 47 years, but in death that love was fulfilled in such an extraordinary way, that even those who did not know them personally were greatly moved and touched by their story.
Margie and Norman are survived by their loving and devoted children and their spouses; Barbara and Benjamin Preble, James and Jessica Brooks, and Alison and Michael Tanner; brothers in-law, Walter Baker, Jr. and Donald Davis; sister in-law, Betty Brooks; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and the many surrogate family members they so often welcomed as their own.
Marguerite Ann Brooks, 69, was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 16, 1947 to James and Marguerite Gallagher. Margie is preceded in death by her parents, sister Diane Davis of North Sutton, NH, and is survived by her sister, Cathy Baker of North Sutton, NH.
Norman Leverett Brooks, 73, was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on December 18, 1943 to Joseph and Rosemarie Brooks. Norman is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Beverly Goldstein and Natalie Gaynor, and brother Brian Brooks. Norman is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who helped care for Marguerite and Norman in recent years.
Family and friends are invited to gather Saturday, April 8th 11:00-2:30pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue in Manchester.
