Maria Kefalas
Maria (Stavrinos) Kefalas 86, ofAuburn, NH died peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2014, surrounding by her loving family. She was born on the island of Lesvos, Greece on August 25, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Therapon and Ourania (Thanatikos) Stavrinos.
Maria came to the United States in 1968 and lived and worked in Manchester before making Auburn her home town. She worked for Gutman Kesslen, Myrna Shoe Industries, and Pandora Textiles before retiring.
She had a deep faith in God and loved her church and family. Her husband, children and grandchildren were everything to her. Maria was an exceptional cook, making all the Greek traditional dishes and was a master at baking Greek Fenekia and Baklava…they were divine. Maria was an avid gardener and could be found, this time of year, outdoors for hours preparing her flower gardens.
Family members include two daughters, Dora (husband Russell) Hitchen, of Auburn, and Paula Kefalas of Bedford, NH, three granddaughters, Elizabeth Marmarou, Maria Marmarou Mioutsoulis, and Lily-Gre Hitchen, her grandson Rafaelos Hitchen, and one great grandson, Charlie Mioutsoulis, Maria also leaves her sister, Marianthi Krideras of Manchester, her nephews, her niece, her great nephews and great nieces, and many good, loving friends. In Addition to her parents and husband Gregorios, Maria was predeceased by two sisters and a brother. The family would like to thank all at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center for the love and care that was given to Maria during her stay.

Arrangements: Visitation will be on Thursday, May 1st 7pm – 9pm at Phaneuf Funeral Home 243 Hanover St, Manchester with the Trisagion Service starting at 8pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10am at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church 111 Island Pond Rd in Manchester, with a graveside committal service immediately following at Pine Grove Cemetery 765 Brown Avenue in Manchester. All relatives and friends are invited.
