On a sunny, warm October day, Marian Blackwell peacefully went to be with the Lord surrounded by her large, loving family. A recent resident of Washington, NH, Marian grew up in Newton Massachusetts and raised her family with her husband Bob, of almost 53 years in Pembroke, Massachusetts. If you asked Marian about her family, you would know that was her greatest joy. She was always able name every one of her 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren (6th on the way) and remember each birthday. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength to all who knew her.
A strong personality and a natural leader, Marian was a real estate broker that worked for several years as a manager for Jack Conway Inc. in Massachusetts winning many awards in over 40 years in the business. Through the years, Marian always had a love and a natural eye for antiques, sharing all her exceptional finds with her children and grandchildren.
When Marian walked into a room, you knew it and she loved a crowd. Marian’s jokes were legendary, and she never missed an opportunity to make people around her laugh. Her house was always the center of all family gatherings, also for friends and neighbors to stop in for a drink, a story, and a song. Always with a twinkle in her eye, loved a good adventure and an even better story to go with it. Marian was a generous soul, and her hospitality was endless. A person of deep faith who found comfort in her Catholic religion, Marian prayed daily with her rosary.
Marian is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Blackwell. Four children, Ginger Johnson (Dennis), Christine Gilbert (Jeffery), Julie Pace (Philip), and Timothy Blackwell. Also 14 grandchildren, 5 (almost 6) great grandchildren. A sister Theresa Vergobbe (Robert), and a brother Lawrence Mayer (Deborah). Several nephews and nieces as well as numerous cousins, all of whom she loved dearly. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Agnes (Kelly) Cooper, granddaughter Kelsie M. Pace, and brother Eugene Mayer.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 10AM at Christ the King Parish, 72 S Main St., Concord NH 03301.
