Marie E. Fournier

Marie E. (Giroux) Fournier, 87, of Penacook died Sunday, October 16, 2022, following a period of declining health.

Marie was born in Haverhill, NH May 14, 1935, to Arthur and Pearl (Butman) Giroux. She resided in Concord at the Rolfe & Rumford Home and graduated from Concord High School Class of 1953. She moved to Penacook in 1954 where she lived the rest of her life.

Marie enjoyed a long and rewarding career with the State of New Hampshire, first in Fish & Game, followed by Office of Emergency Planning, and lastly with the Department of Corrections, Division of Field Services, retiring in May of 1999 after more than 32 years of dedicated service. She also worked for short periods with Hoyt Electric Company, Beede Electric Company, and Sprague Electric. She enjoyed puttering around the house and yard, as well as spending time with family.

Marie is survived by her children, Darlene Smith and husband Thomas of Boscawen, Marie Whiting and husband Bob of Boscawen, Arthur Guinard Jr. of Belmont, Susan Gregg of Penacook, Lawrence Fournier and wife Gail of Derry, Virginia Jourdenais of Tilton, Michael Fournier and wife Judy of Hillsborough, and David Fournier Jr of Salisbury; three grandchildren she raised, David J. Fournier III of Nashua, Peter Fournier of Penacook, and Jessica Fournier of Pittsfield, MA; brother Robert Giroux of MA; and many additional grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, David Fournier, two brothers Arthur Giroux and Nelson Kennedy, and two grandchildren Laurie Davis and Tracey Fournier.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service for both David and Marie Wednesday, November 2, 2022, 11:30am, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.
