Marie B. Schoemig, 103, formerly of Brattleboro, VT passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy, NY. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 10, 1912; the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Bayer) Schoemig.
Marie was employed for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co for 47 years until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Michael Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Brigid's Kitchen in Brattleboro. Marie enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader.
She is predeceased by a sister, Lucy Thies in 2002; a nephew, Wayne Thies in 1995 and a niece, June Gainer in 2012.
She is survived by a nephew, Albert Gainer of NC; a niece, Ann Thies of CT; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 47 Walnut St, Brattleboro, VT. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery in Brattleboro. The KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High St., Brattleboro has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brigid's Kitchen, 32 Walnut St., Brattleboro VT 05301.
