Mariette "Mar" L. Dignard
Mariette L. Dignard found her way home to the Lord, at the age of 85, on June 1, 2018. She was born in Nashua on September 9, 1932.
Mariette was a graduate of Villa Augustina High School in Goffstown. Following graduation, she entered the community of the Religious of Joseph and Mary (RJM). During her time there she obtained her nursing and teaching certificates. Mariette's teaching career took her to Woonsocket and Providence, RI, Fall River, MA, and Villa Augustina in Goffstown. She took great pride in teaching young people, some remained in contact with her for many years. Although she enjoyed teaching, nursing was her passion. The number of lives she touched was too numerous to count. Her nursing career began in the convent infirmary, and continued in Biloxi, MS, RI and NH. Mariette retired in Manchester, where she remained until her passing.
"Mar" as she was affectionately called by those closest to her, had a never ending supply of love and compassion. Others were always placed before herself, as evidenced by her life choices. Mar always had a smile on her face and many wonderful stories to tell. She was a beacon of light for all who knew her. She loved lighthouses and had visited many along the East Coast. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games on her kindle.
Mar was always up for a meal out and car rides through the mountains and especially to the Ocean. She spent her final years with her closest and dearest friend, Tammy. Together they had many adventures and made numerous memories that will be forever cherished. Mar will be terribly missed and forever loved.
SERVICES: Visitation will be from 4-5pm on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. A Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation, 5pm, at the Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Dion officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in her name to the charity of one's choice.
