Marilyn F. Devine, 91, of Manchester, NH was called home April 16th, 2023.
Born in Lawrence, MA on March 21, 1932 she was the daughter of Cora (née LaPlante) and Francis Devine. She was also the proud older sister of Francis Devine.
Marilyn lived a long life of service. After graduating high school she began studying Nursing at Saint Elizabeth’s. Then she worked as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals in the Boston area. In her next great act of family love, she dedicated the following years to raising her two children. She later returned to school at Boston College and earned her B. S. in Nursing. Following graduation she worked in a number of roles at Saint Elizabeth’s until retirement. She was especially proud of her role as a Psychiatric Care Nurse.
During her retirement she enjoyed many of her greatest pleasures including family, friendships, and storytelling. She could often be found entertaining others with stories of her time as a nurse or updates about her loved ones. She made friends everywhere she went and struck up conversations easily with anyone who would lend an ear--and many would.
Later, she moved to Manchester, New Hampshire to be closer to her grandchildren. Here, she was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and made many more friends there and in the community. While in Manchester, she continued her legacy of selfless love by donating her time and energy to anyone in need. At Blessed Sacrament she volunteered at Memorial Meals, a service she respected greatly, as well as serving as a greeter among many other roles. She enjoyed countless hours with her family--going camping, taking her granddaughters out to lunch, and seeing many plays at the Palace Theater.
Her final days were spent surrounded by family. She spent her last day celebrating her son’s birthday with cake and ice cream. Right up until she passed she was full of love and light, her eyes full of that trademark Irish twinkle.
She is survived by her son, Tony Grimaldi and his wife Eva, and her daughter, Lori Taylor and her husband Bill. Her love will also live on in her grandchildren- Amanda, Samantha, Stephen, Jess, and Randy as well as her eight great-grandchildren whom she cared for dearly.
