Marilyn K. Hughey passed away peacefully in her home on February 9, 2025. She was born on February 27, 1948 to her parents Lewis and Emily Francis in Columbus, OH. Marilyn attended Bob Jones University, where she met the love of her life, Philip Calvin Hughey, III (deceased). They were married on October 19, 1968.
After dedicating many years to raising her three children, Marilyn pursued a career in education and caregiving. She worked at Boylston Home for Girls, Easter Seals, and ran an in-home daycare before earning her bachelor’s degree at Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH. She then became an elementary school teacher, working at Goffstown Christian School, Faith Christian Academy, and Mount Zion Christian School.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Jennings Alys (Hughey) Loftus and her husband Timothy, Daniel Philip Hughey and his wife Kathleen, and Sarah Elizabeth (Hughey) Kruse and her husband Klaus. She was blessed by her 6 grandchildren: Savana Hughey, Morgen Hughey, Jace Loftus, Matilda Kruse, Maggie Kruse, and Charlie Kruse. Marilyn is also survived by her sister Carolyn Johnson, as well as many in-laws, nephews, and nieces.
SERVICES: A visitation will be on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 5:00-7:00PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to a school of your choice, reflecting her lifelong dedication to education.
