Marion R. (Stone) Edmunds

MARION R. EDMUNDS

Marion R. (Stone) Edmunds of Franconia and Moultonborough, NH, passed away June 28, 2016 at age 92. Marion was born in 1923 in Detroit, MI, to Frank and Lillian Stone. She was a graduate of Michigan State University and a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Following graduation, she went to work for Chrysler Motor Corporation during World War II designing aircraft engines in support of the country's war efforts. She later worked as an interior decorator for Michigan Bell Telephone Company. She met her husband, Craig, in Detroit and they were married in 1951. They later moved to Needham, MA, and eventually West Boylston, MA, where Marion began a sixteen-year career teaching Home Economics at the Northborough Middle School. She was dedicated to improving the educational system for children and served on the West Boylston School Committee. After many winter weekends spent in Franconia, she and Craig moved to the North Country full time to spend their retirement years. She enjoyed skiing at Cannon Mountain, travelling, volunteering at Littleton Regional Healthcare and spending time with friends. She continued to spend her summers sailing and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee. She particularly enjoyed attending productions at The Barnstormers summer theater in Tamworth as a season ticket holder for many years. In the 1980s, Marion worked at the Cannon Mountain Ski School where she helped manage and promote the Cannon Cruisers, a weekly ski group of age 70+ skiers. She was also active in organizing the weekly dinners for Winter Club and was a member of the Littleton Regional Healthcare's Auxiliary where she chaired the scholarship program. Marion was also an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren at their various sporting events.

Marion was predeceased by her husband, Craig, and her sister, Helen Stone. She is survived by her three children: Dale Edmunds and his wife, Barbara Fay, of Wellesley, MA; Jill Rudberg of Franconia, NH; and Kim Husson and her husband, William, of Derry, NH; as well as seven grandchildren whom she adored.

SERVICES -- Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 7, at the Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton, NH, from 4-6 pm, and a service will be held on Friday, July 8, at 11:00 AM Saint Matthew's Chapel, 71 Sunset Hill Road, Sugar Hill, NH.
