Marion Emlen Hepburn, 93, died on January 15, 2010 at the Lafayette Center, Franconia, NH. Born on August 11, 1916, Marion was the daughter of the late Samuel and Marion Haines Emlen of Awbury, Germantown, PA. Marion graduated from Agnes Irwin School, Wynnewood, PA and attended Wellesley College, Wellesley MA. She worked at the Miquon School and Shipley School, and volunteered at Radnor Friends Monthly Meeting before moving to Sugar Hill with her husband in 1979. Marion was very active in Sugar Hill and Franconia, tutoring Cambodian refugees, fundraising for the North Country Chamber Players, singing in church, and serving on the Planning Board. Her greatest enjoyment was working in her garden, caring for her dogs, and weaving. Marion was predeceased by her husband Charles J. Hepburn, Jr. in 1987 and a son Louis in 2005. She is survived by three children, Andrew Hepburn of Salisbury, MD, Catharine H. Hodgson of Paxton, MA, and Samuel Hepburn of Stockton Springs, ME, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Following cremation, her memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 23 at The Church of the Epiphany, Lisbon, NH.
Committal will be private at Radnor Monthly Meeting, Radnor, PA.
