Marion L. Sullivan
Sugar Hill, N.H. ---- Marion L. Sullivan, 90, of Sugar Hill, died peacefully January 14, 2004, at the Lafayette Health Care Center, Franconia, New Hampshire. She had resided there for the past eight years. Marion was born on December 24, 1913, in Dorchester, Massachusetts. and was the daughter of Arthur and Amy (Coman) Hawks.
She was graduated from Hudson High School (Massachusetts) in 1930 and was one of three graduates to present an essay. She entered Simmons College (Boston, Massachusetts) at the age of 16 and was graduated from Simmons College in 1934 with a degree in Social Work. She also studied at the New York School of Social Work.
She married William C. Sullivan on January 5, 1946 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lancaster, Massachusetts and subsequently spent the next twenty-five years living in Maryland, while her husband worked for the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. It was there that she raised her family.
In 1971 Marion and her husband retired to Sugar Hill, New Hampshire.
She truly loved this area and became involved in many volunteer activities. She was an avid reader and served as librarian of the Sugar Hill Library for many years. She was a member of the Willing Workers and served as participant, treasurer, and eventually president. Marion was also on the Board of Directors of the Bancroft House in Franconia, New Hampshire for many years
Marion was a beloved mother and grandmother. Her greatest love was for her children and grandchildren, and she found tremendous joy in being part of their lives.
She was predeceased by her husband, William, and a brother, Melvin.
She leaves a daughter, Joann Tuttle, of Glastonbury, Connecticut, and two sons, William Joseph Sullivan, of Sugar Hill, N.H., and Andrew Hawks Sullivan, of Manchester, N.H. She also leaves four grandchildren, Elizabeth Coman Tuttle, Christopher William Tuttle, Theresa Marie Sullivan, and Kathleen Marion Sullivan. She also leaves her beloved friend of seventy-three years, Elizabeth B. Andrews, of Huntington, Long Island, New York.
SERVICES: Funeral services were held at St. Michael's Catholic Church, in Hudson, Massachusetts on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 11:00 am.

Marion always thought of others before herself, and would derive great joy from knowing that a life at this health center could be made easier because of her.
