Marjorie Anne Epp, born on June 25, 1942, in Queens, New York, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, in Holderness, New Hampshire. She was the beloved widow of John Epp, whom she lovingly cared for during his battle with dementia. Marjorie was a devoted mother to her sons Robert (partner William Crawford) and David, and daughter-in-law Donna. She was a cherished Nana to Amber, Austin, and Jonathan. She is predeceased by her brother Fred.
The daughter of Adeline Slott (nee Steingraeber) of Germany and Albert Slott of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Marjorie graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She was a homemaker for years and later worked as an Assistant for Student Government at Queens College, where her dedication to students was exemplary. She was honored with a special award for her outstanding support of handicapped students, reflecting her caring nature and advocacy.
Marjorie was a long-time member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Flushing, NY, where her faith was a source of strength and guidance throughout her life. She was especially active in the church Ladies Guild where she formed close friendships and worked to raise funds for the needy. She treasured a special, long-term friendship with Henry Troue of Flushing, NY, whose companionship brought her much joy.
In 2009, Marjorie moved with John to Kings Park, NY, embracing a new chapter in her life. She had a great love for Carvel ice cream, mocha lattes, traditional German recipes, and, in later years, a newfound appreciation for Thai cuisine. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, and baking. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, often playing board games and solving puzzles together. Marjorie and her granddaughter Amber shared many happy hours baking, a favorite pastime they both cherished. She enjoyed going to grandsons Austin’s baseball and Jonathan’s hockey games.
In 2022, Marjorie moved to her son Rob’s farm in New Hampshire. With the support of his partner Will and many new friends, she bravely faced lymphoma. Thanks to the exceptional care from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Cancer Center, she was granted two extra years of life, filled with cherished moments. In her final days, Granite VNA and dear friends helped provide compassionate care, bringing comfort and peace to her journey.
Marjorie will be laid to rest alongside her husband John at All Faiths Cemetery in Queens, New York on Tuesday October 22, 2024. A dinner in her honor will be held at a later date to celebrate her life and legacy.
