(Dame) Langella, 81, of Manchester, died September 10, 2004 at Catholic Medical Center following a period of declining health. She was born in Westbrook, ME, on November 20, 1922, the daughter of Alfred and Elvira (Manchester) Dame. She attended area schools and graduated from Westbrook High School in 1941 and from Garden State Teachers College. She had resided in Portland, ME, Keene, White River Junction, VT and Waterville, ME and moved to Manchester in 1964 until the death of her husband of 46 years Peter Langella who died in 1992. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where she was active as a reader and Eucharistic Minister. She also taught CCD, was past President of the Parish Council, Our Ladies Guild and the New Hampshire Council of Catholic Women. She and late husband were active members of Caregivers, Inc. In 1997, she moved to Sebring, FL and was an active member in St. James Parish in Lake Placid, FL. She loved to read, play scrabble, doing crossword puzzles and anything else that challenged her mentally. She also enjoyed music, dancing and bowling. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Family members include seven sons; Richard Langella of NJ, Michael Langella of Peak Island, ME, Peter Langella of Chester, Steven Langella, Paul Langella, John Langella and Christopher Langella, all of Manchester; two daughters, Catherine Langella-White of Yarmouth, ME and Sarasota, FL and Margaret Cantara of Manchester; fifteen grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Keniston of ME and FL and Joyce Dow of Portland, ME; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. A memorial gathering will take place on Wednesday, October 6th from 10:00 to 11:00 at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester. A Memorial Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00. Graveside committal service will take place after the service in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
