Mark B. Langmaid 1953 - 2012 PUTNEY, VT Mark Bennett Langmaid, longtime resident of Putney, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012. He was born in Brattleboro on May 6, 1953, son of Charles B. Langmaid and Corrine E. (Searles) Langmaid. The family home was located on Green Street where he was raised. He was educated in local schools, graduating from Brattleboro Union High School, class of 1971. He attended Castleton State College, earning a BA in English, graduating 1977. He began a 33-year career doing sales work in 1979, accepting an entry-level position job with Putney Paper, working for Earl and Shirley Stockwell. He was promoted to sales manager over the next six years. He visited customers and attending paper industry events all over the country. He became Northeast Operations manager for Arden Rice Cakes/Quaker Oats in Putney from 1985-1987. He was responsible for product sales and distribution from Pennsylvania to Maine. He attended health food and natural food shows all over the country. He was hired by local entrepreneur Neil Joseph, Sonnax, founder, in 1987 when the company was located in Putney. He spent nearly 25 years with Sonnax, involved in sales and working with extraordinary people, led by CEO Tommy Harmon. He is survived by loving partner of 18 years, Linda M. Brooks of Putney, and her daughter, Amanda Sabo of North Westminster. Amanda was the daughter Mark never had and he loved being called "Pops" by her. Linda's family in Connecticut treated Mark like one of their own. Linda's nephew Austin Cook was the son Mark never had. Mark was predeceased by both his parents and his younger brother, Scott Langmaid. MEMORIAL NOTICE: There will be a memorial in the field behind the home Mark and Linda lived in for the past 18 years, located at 248 Westminster Road, Putney, VT. The memorial will be held Saturday, March 3, at 1 pm. Mark's ashes will be spread on the rivers and lakes he kayaked, mountain trails he hiked and snowshoed, and the roads and bike trails he cycled in the state of Vermont he loved so much.
