Mark Woodard Reinhardt

Mark W. Reinhardt, 88, of Brattleboro, VT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT. Born in Pekin, IL, the son of the late George A. and Roma Reinhardt.

After graduating from Urbana High School, Mark proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1986. After returning from overseas, he attended the University of Illinois.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne, in 2002. They married in 1945.

Mark lived most of his life in Champaign-Urbana, IL, where he was a Realtor and Independent Fee Appraiser. Before moving to Brattleboro in 2000, he previously resided in Manchester, VT.

Mark was a member of the Brattleboro Rotary Club; the Brattleboro Cairo Shriners; the American Legion; lifetime member of VFW Post 6471 in Manchester; Master Mason of Western Star Lodge 240, Champaign, IL, AF and AM; the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Danville, IL; Ansar Temple in Springfield, IL; University of IL Alumni Assoc.; co-founder of the Champaign-Urbana Sports Car Club; city council member in Urbana, IL. Mark also served on the Champaign County Board of Realtors, earning realtor of the year in 1968, and served as village clerk and town lister in the Village of Manchester, VT.
Mark was known for his quick wit and humor. He always had a joke ready and brought a smile to everyone he met. He loved to talk to people about their interests. Mark's hobbies included golf, auto racing (lifelong Indy 500 fan), fine automobiles, reading, and traveling.

He is survived by his daughter, Jeanne Reinhardt Doob and her husband Peter J. of Brentwood, CA; his son, John Reinhardt and his wife Lynn of Brookline, VT; three grandchildren, Jennifer Doob, Jared Doob, and Kimberly Reinhardt; and two great grandchildren, Dylan Doob Phillips and Jaxon Doob.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Interment was at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. The KER-WESTELUND Funeral Home, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT 05301 is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations may be made in Mark's memory to the National Parkinson Foundation.
