MARTHA CROSSETT
FRANCONIA, NH â Martha Crossett, 90 passed away on July 18th, 2011 at the Lafayette Center where she had resided for the past several years.
Born November 12, 1920 in Littleton, NH, she was the daughter of Raymond and Gertrude Williams. Early years were spent growing up on the farm in North Littleton followed by attendance in the Littleton schools, graduating in 1938. Martha then attended the Brightlook Hospital School of Nursing, earning her RN designation in 1941, after which she began a dedicated nursing career for over 30 years at the Littleton Hospital. Upon retirement, she continued caring for patients at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield for several years.
In 1942 Martha married Charles R. Crossett and they began a long residency at 62 Grove Street, raising a family of four children: two sons, David and John, and two daughters, Nancy and Janet. When not working, she enjoyed gardening, painting, crafts, golf, cross-country skiing, and lengthy walks. Martha was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Littleton and participated in the United Methodist Womenâs Guild.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years on October 24, 1996. She leaves two daughters; Nancy Peabody and her husband, Jere, Janet Powell and her husband, Dean, and two sons; David Crossett and his wife, Maureen, and John Crossett and his wife, Anne. She also leaves six grandchildren; Brett Peabody, Kristen Byrne, Cody and Cayleigh Powell, Michelle Reagle, and Michael Crossett, as well as five great-grandchildren; Garvin & Maya Reagle and Thomas, Jimmy and Jackson Byrne.
SERVICES â At Marthaâs request, a private graveside service for family was held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Glenwood Cemetery in Littleton, officiated by Rev. Robert Schneider.
