Manchester â Martin D. Jacobsen, 61, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2014 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, surrounded by his loving family after a very happy life full of love.
He was born on August 18, 1952 in Wolfeboro, the son of Thomas S. Jacobsen of Ossipee and the late Annie (Libby) Jacobsen, who died in January of 2014.
He served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War.
Martin had previously worked at Polycom as a Systems Administrator.
He enjoyed skiing and sailing. His greatest joy was to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his selflessness and generosity, but above all else, Martin will be remembered for his unwavering devotion as a husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and friend.
Family members include his wife of 28 years, Debra (Mullen) Jacobsen of Manchester; 5 children, Julie Noel of Windham, Amy Campbell of Manchester, Robin Jacobsen of Manchester, Holly Potwin of Stafford, VA and Eric Jacobsen of Manchester; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Noel, Joshua Miller, Andrew Noel, Cameron Noel, Taylor Phillips, Cody Potwin, Hannah Lepage and Austin Potwin; 2 sisters, Susan Coulter-Hoag of Panama City, FL and Laurie Paradis of Farmington as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Jacobsen and his sister, Karen Mitchell.
Friends and family are gathering to pay their respects at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8PM. His funeral service will be held in the funeral chapel on Tuesday at 2:00PM. Burial at Water Village Cemetery, Ossipee is still being planned. In lieu of flowers, donations in Martin's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Dr., #110, Bedford, NH 03110.
