It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Mary E. DeJong, who died peacefully at home in Deerfield, New Hampshire, on September 23, 2025, at the age of 61. She was surrounded by her beloved children, her brother, sister-in-law and niece in her final moments - a reflection of the love and closeness that defined her life.

Mary was born on April 7, 1964, to Henry and Mary Jane DeJong, and grew up in Baie-Comeau, Quebec. Her early years were filled with curiosity, connection, and a love of the natural world - qualities that would shape the vibrant path she followed throughout her life.

After graduating from the University of Denver, Mary pursued a life full of adventure and exploration. Her career took her from the mountain beauty of Vail, to the energy of New York City, the coastal charm of Nantucket, the culture of Boston, and the peaceful shores of Cape Cod. In every place, Mary brought warmth, insight, and an open heart.

She settled in Hooksett, New Hampshire, where she devoted herself to raising her three beloved children - Sasha, Shaan, and Sophie - and caring for her parents with deep love and strength. Her home was a place of laughter, learning, and unwavering support.

Mary is also survived by her devoted brother, Scot DeJong; her sister-in-law, Alexya Heelis; and her cherished nieces Porter and Zekiah DeJong. Her family was her foundation, and she was theirs - a constant presence of love, wisdom, and care.

Her many friends and acquaintances knew Mary for her love of life, gentle kindness, positive attitude, and generous spirit. Whether sharing a quiet moment or offering steady support, she made a lasting impact on those around her.

Mary will be remembered for her compassionate heart, quiet strength, and boundless resilience. She lived fully and loved deeply, and her spirit remains a lasting presence in the lives she touched.

A celebration of her life and spirit will take place in October 2025 - on Sunday the 26th at 1:00 pm EST - where friends and family will gather to remember, honor, and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the New Hampshire Animal Rescue League, in honor of Mary’s love for dogs.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mary’s oncology team at Massachusetts General Hospital for their exceptional care and dedication, and to the compassionate hospice professionals at Brookhaven Hospice, who helped make her final days peaceful and dignified. Their support brought great comfort to Mary and those who loved her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
