MARY ELIZABETH MOORE FAIRWEATHER

WHITEFIELD, NH  Mary M. Fairweather, age 85, passed away on January 20, 2008 at the Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster.

Mary was born on June 8, 1922, a daughter to Mary Binford (Sledge) and Caph Philip St. John Moore, in Weldon, North Carolina. She graduated from Weldon High School, completed P. G. Business Course at Roanoke Rapids High School, and graduated from the University of North Carolina Womans College.

Mary was active in Dedham, MA as Co-President, with her husband, of the Ames School P.T.A.; a member of the Dexter School Building Committee, a teacher and treasurer of the Allin Congregational Church Sunday School, and was a Charter member of the Dedham Conservation Commission. She was also active in the Navy Relief Society in Norfolk, VA.

After relocating to Whitefield, NH, Mary owned and operated the Fairweather Shop in Whitefield for 27 years. She was a member of the Whitefield Chamber of Commerce, the Whitefield Historical Society, of which she was President for several years; a member of the White Mountain Garden Club, and the Littleton Regional Hospital Volunteers.

Mary is survived by her husband, Willington Boles Fairweather of Whitefield, NH; two sons, Samuel Rossiter Fairweather of Whitefield, NH and Lt. John Sledge Fairweather, USN of Suffolk, VA; a stepson, Willington Boles Fairweather of Newton, MA; two brothers, Philip St. John Moore, Jr. of Hilton Head Island, SC; Sledge Moore of Moyock, NC; a sister, Martha Moore Benett of Arden, NC; 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES  Friends may join Marys family for a Celebration of Marys life at an informal reception to share their memories of Mary on Thursday, January 24th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church Hall in Whitefield, NH.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Morrison Nursing Home, Terrace Ave., Whitefield, NH 03598.
