Mary (Poulos) Lucas, 89, of Manchester, passed away on December 8, 2011 at the Elliot Hospital.
She was born in Haverhill, MA on October 26, 1922, the daughter of Apostoles and Efigenia Panagiotakopoulos (Poulos) and had been a Manchester resident for over 65. She graduated from Bryant and Stratton College in Boston and also attended Boston University. She had been employed as an administrative assistance in the Career Development Department at Southern New Hampshire University until her retirement. Prior to that she had worked for Pandora Industries. She was a long-time member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and adored spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the widow of Harry Lucas who died in 1962.
Family members include her son, Preston Lucas of Reading, MA; her daughter, Jeanne Lucas of Manchester; two grandchildren, Christopher Lucas of Salem, MA, and Stephanie Musgrave and her husband Joseph of North Reading, MA; three great grandchildren, Madison, Christina, and Katie; two brothers, Constantine Poulos of VT and George Poulos of VA; and several nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. The Trisageon service will be held on Sunday at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Monday morning at 10:00 AM in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
