Mary Ellen Momburg, 91, passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2026, in Pensacola, Florida. She was born on February 13, 1935, the daughter of Patrick Redmond O’Brien and Elizabeth Eunice Pray, in Boston, Massachusetts. As a passionate and dedicated genealogist, Mary Ellen devoted decades of her life to tracing her family’s roots. Her research led her all the way back to the Mayflower, a discovery she took great pride in. She was an honored member of both the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society. Through her meticulous research logs and written family histories, she preserved a priceless legacy that will be passed down for generations.
Mary Ellen shared a remarkable 46-year marriage with the love of her life, Dean Momburg. Together, they built a life rooted in adventure. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a loyal supporter of the New England Patriots. She loved music and dancing, especially Elvis Presley, whom she was thrilled to see in concert as a teenager. Our mom’s favorite song, “I hope you will Dance,” reflects the way she lived, never sitting life out, and always choosing to dance! May we honor her by living with that same spirit.
Mary Ellen is predeceased by her Parents Patrick Redmond O’Brien and Elizabeth Eunice Pray and her Husband, James Dean Momburg.
She is survived by her sisters, Patricia Calerso and Irene Reagan. Her six children: Victoria Jenkins (Charlie), Frank Langdon (Katrina), Dale Langdon, Jamesina Twomey (Stephen), Suzanne Hurst (Dennis), and Samantha Murphy (Max). Her twelve grandchildren: Bobby Jenkins (Amy), Brian Jenkins (Carise), Olivia Langdon, Dale Jr. Langdon (Yessenia), Daniel Langdon (Elizabeth), Michael Langdon (Ashlee), Alex Tsakanikas (Ale), Nickolas Tsakanikas, Kyleigh Hurst, Austin Hurst (Alexis), Kayla Murphy, and Aidan Murphy, as well as thirteen great grandchildren.
Calling Hours for Mary Ellen will be held on Tuesday, May 5th from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King, St. Boscawen, NH. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Parish at 9 Bonney St. Penacook, NH. She will then be laid to rest alongside her husband at 12:00 PM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
