Maryann Gindel Hall, 65 of Athens, VT lost her stoic and courageous battle with cancer. She went to heaven on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 3:20 am due to complications of a rare aggressive cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma, "Bile Duct Cancer".
Maryann was born to the late Irene and Ernest Gindel of Meriden, CT. Maryann graduated from Platt T Orvill High School. She went on to receive degrees from Post College
Moved to Vermont in 1990, Maryann began a career with the State of VT Dept of Labor that lasted 20 years. She was very passionate about making a difference in the lives of all around her. She brought a smile into everyone's day just by walking into a room, especially all of her co-workers she made everlasting relationships with.
Maryann retired from the state in 2009, and then began her most rewarding job yet. She started working part time as a Pharmacy Tech for Messenger Valley Pharmacy on Townshend, VT. She felt so welcomed by the whole Grace Cottage family. She made special bonds with each and every person she touched in the three years she was there.
Maryann was a person that made you smile when you thought of her. Beautiful, refreshing, witty, warm and a loving soul. It made everyone feel good and special just to be around her.
Maryann was an avid reader, loved playing in all her flower gardens, she loved all her feather friends, and the wildlife on the pond. She loved her Sassy dog and Kitty, her living scarf. She loved boating on the river with her family and loved to meet her friends for lunch and catch up at her favorite spots.
Maryann is survived by her husband, her love, and her best friend, William "Bill" Hall, they married on May 5, 1989. They took their love and dreams to VT. She is also survived by her two children, which her world revolved around, Karen Lorenc Alberico of Proctor, VT and John F. Lorenc Jr. of Meriden, CT. Her grandson, special in her heart, Jacob Lorenc. Her sister and brother in law, Jeanne and Edward Graham of Meriden, CT. Also her favorite cousin Allen Bernardini of Morris, CT. Her best friend of 62 years Carol Seavey Laduc and her two brothers, David Gindel and James Gindel. Also all her nephews and nieces, and her incredible friends.
Maryann's family would like to thank everyone at Grace Cottage Hospital for all their warm, kind, loving, caring attention made all the difference in the world.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Grace Cottage Hospital in Maryann's name.
Calling Hours will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home 57 High St. Brattleboro, VT where a prayer service will take place at 6:00 PM. immediately following the visitation will be a pot-luck dinner and reception at the VFW Post 1034, 40 Black Mountain Road, Brattleboro.
