With heavy hearts and deep respect, we share the news of the passing of Matthew Carl Shattuck, who left us far too soon on June 17, 2026. Born on February 14, 1995, in Nashua, New Hampshire, Matthew brought light, laughter, and unparalleled kindness into the lives of all who knew him.
Matthew’s roots were firmly planted in New Hampshire. He began his education at Ellis Elementary, continued on to Lister Academy for high school, and later earned his GED—each step reflecting his commitment to learning and self-improvement.
Determined and hard-working, Matthew found a meaningful career at American Tire Distribution (ATD), where he spent four impactful years. More than just a workplace, ATD became a second family, and Matthew was valued and appreciated for his dedication and camaraderie with colleagues.
Nothing was more important to Matthew than his loved ones. He leaves behind his parents Michelle and Brad Shattuck; his grandmothers Angel and Elaine Velazquez; his cherished sons, Zayden Shattuck-Lemieux and Chase Shattuck; and his beloved sisters, Mariah Shattuck and Nichole Gibbs. He also dearly loved his nieces—Daija, Sophia, and Felicia—and his nephews, Jonah and Anthony, whom he helped to raise as an uncle whose love and influence were unfailing and his cousin Sarah Rowe. Matthew also treasured his large circle of friends. Among them, Eric Naples stood as his closest confidant, and his relationships with Michelle Lemieux, with whom he shared a son Zayden, girlfriend Kailyn Bouffard, and Nikki Flynn, all of whom were deeply important to Matthew.
Matthew’s spirit was joyful and generous. His priority was always to make others laugh, finding ways to lighten every room he entered and encouraging those around him to recognize the bright side of life. His kindness had no bounds; he was an unwavering source of support for friends and family alike, always present and ready to help without hesitation.
Among his many passions, Matthew reveled in the art of spinning fire poi, captivating friends and family with his natural talent as an entertainer. He became a skilled tattooist, persistently refining his art and drawing inspiration from his late brother Michael, whose memory remained central to Matthew’s life. He found immense happiness in these creative pursuits and in his efforts to live up to the legacy left by his brother.
The loss of Matthew’s brother Michael was a profound sorrow that shaped him. Throughout his life, Matthew remained best friends with both his siblings, Mariah and Michael, and family truly meant everything to him. The shared experiences and unbreakable bonds within his family continued to shape Matthew’s outlook and priorities.
Matthew is also remembered fondly by those he has joined in rest: his brother Michael Shattuck; his grandmother Bertina Gibbs; his friend Chelsea Fuller; his friend Jacob Currier; and his uncle Peter Gibbs. The memory of their love and their place in Matthew’s life will always be cherished.
Calling hours for Matthew will take place on Sunday, July 12, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium at 243 Hanover St, Manchester, NH 03104. A funeral service will follow at the same location from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
