Matthew Scotty Martin, Jr., 84, of Manchester died January 10, 2005 after a period of declining health. He was born on September 18, 1920 in New Stevenson, Scotland the son of the late Matthew and Mary (Skidmore) Martin Sr.. Scotty immigrated to the United States at the age of 8. He attended local schools, graduating from West High School in 1940 where he lettered in football and baseball. He was a US Army veteran who served during World War II. He coached baseball at South Little League and umpired various youth baseball teams. He also refereed soccer games throughout New Hampshire. An avid golfer, he had been a long time member of Derryfield Country Club. Mr. Martin belonged to the NOA Mens Club and was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years of service. Mr. Martin was a devoted husband and father. Family members include; his wife of 58 years, Aglaia (Tsimtsos) Martin; one son, Randall Thomas Martin of Manchester; one daughter, Linda Ann Martin of Westbrook, Maine; and nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours and services will be private. Burial will take place in Pinegrove Cemetery.
