Maureen Colette Tully of Chester, NH passed peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 27, 2019. Pre-deceased by her adoring father John Joseph Tully, and her brother John Christopher Tully, as well as her brother-in Law Jan Wawrzynek, and nieces Bridgid and Fiona Tully, Maureen was surely welcomed to heaven by quite a crowd.
She was born the seventh of eight children to John Joseph Tully, and Eileen Leach Tully on March 22, 1978 in Des Plaines, Illinois. One of only five in the world to be diagnosed with a congenital disorder called pseudo-hypo-para thyroidism, Maureen was surely " special" and not "disabled" to anyone who had the honor of knowing her.
Maureen attended Roche-A-Cri elementary school in Wisconsin before completing her grade-school years at Chester Academy in Chester, NH. It was in High School at Pinkerton Academy that Maureen was donned the nickname "Moe T" and became her "totally awesome" self. She was a charming part of the Special Ed classes, and acted as the manager and "spiritual director" for the senior girls basketball team under Coach John Barry. She gained her competitive and determined reputation as a winning member of the basketball, snowshoeing, and track teams for the Derry Rec. "Timberwolves" Special Olympics team.
After High School, Maureen worked at Stepping Stones preschool where she was lovingly managed by Karen Wilson. Perhaps the most joyful part of Maureen's life were her years at Wings of Change in Windham, NH. Run first by it's founder Sandra Golonka, and later by the incredible Jlene Root, Maureen made life long friendships, and looked forward to Challengers Camp at Camp Wilmot every Summer she was able to attend. The Tully family is incredibly thankful for the happiness and meaning that program brought to Maureen's life.
In recent years Maureen was part of the Kimi-Nichols Center community in Plaistow, NH, and Community Crossroads. Of late, she suffered from many back and orthopedic surgeries, and complications from her genetic disorder. She and her family are indebted to the many nurses, doctors, and staff who cared for, and loved Maureen, there are too many to name, but each fondly remembered.
She is survived by a broken-hearted, but grateful family who was blessed to have such a positive, loving, generous hearted girl among them. Namely:
Her devoted Mother and Caretaker Eileen Leach Tully of Chester, NH; Her sisters Elizabeth, Frances and Margaret Tully; Her sister Kathleen Tully Curtis and brother-in-law Robert Curtis and their children: RJ, Sophie, Lucy, Andrew, Michael, and Ronan; Her sister Alyson Tully Fitzpatrick and brother-in-law Mathew Fitzpatrick and their children: Sean and Madeline; Her brother Patrick Tully and sister-in-law Eileen Magarahan Tully and their children: Jack, PJ, Thomas, Maeve, Brendan, and Mary-Grace. Her sister-in-law Stacy Kurth Tully and her children Kaitlin Tully Kilick (Lucas Kilick), Danielle Tully Boese ( Adam Boese), and Aaron Tully ( Hannah Landon).
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Thomas Aquinas in Derry, NH at 11am on December 7th, 2019. A light memorial reception will follow in the Aquinas center.
