MAURICE A. DEMING SR.

FRANCONIA, NH – Maurice A. Deming Sr., 86, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016, at the Lafayette Center, Genesis Nursing Home in Franconia, NH.

He was born on February 13, 1930 in Lisbon, a son of the late Roscoe and Irene (Bovat) Deming.

Maurice was a veteran of the Korean War. He served from 1949 to 1952 as a mechanic stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. When leaving the Regular Army, he was a Corporal.

Maurice married Dorothy A. Silver of Lisbon on June 29, 1952.

Maurice worked for Whitney's Inc. in Franconia, NH for more than 35 years. He was a carpenter, many customers would request him for work they wanted done. After leaving Whitney's, Maurice worked doing carpentry work for Mike Binder, Bob Styles and Mark Dresser.

Roscoe and Irene Deming bought a farm in Enosburg, VT. They moved the family there when Maurice was a small child. Maurice and his siblings worked on the farm. When he was grown, Maurice moved back to Lisbon. He stayed with relatives and drove Bread Truck for Clifford Silver of Lisbon. Maurice met Clifford's sister, Dorothy, and she and Maurice dated. Maurice enlisted in the Regular Army and kept in touch with Dorothy. They were married while he was still in the Military. Maurice and Dorothy raised a family in Lisbon, NH.

Maurice enjoyed making various furniture items for family and friends. He was a member of the Lisbon Stump Jumpers and loved riding his snow machine on many trials. He had a garden every year. He liked watching Westerns on TV and spending time with his family.

Maurice is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Silver) Deming of 64 years of marriage; sons Maurice A. Deming Jr and wife Carol of Whitefield, NH, David C. Deming and wife Barbara of Lisbon, NH, Steven R. Deming of Lisbon, NH; daughters Linda A. Deming of Lisbon, NH, Kathy (Deming) Mayo of Lisbon, NH; grandchildren Carly Deming, Michael Deming, David Deming II, Richard Deming, Taylor Deming, Kristina (Mayo) Blodgett, and Hope Mayo; great-grandchildren Lexi Deming, Karter Deming, Preston Deming, Carter Blodgett and Thomas Deming; sister-in-law Eleanor (Silver) Blake; brother-in-law Carl John Frank; aunt Della (Jenks) Deming of New Jersey, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Maurice is predeceased by his parents, Roscoe and Irene (Bovat) Deming, brothers Bruce R. Deming and Robert W. Deming; sister Charlotte "Charlie" (Deming) Frank, and sister-in-law Virginia (Sylvester) Deming.

SERVICES – A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 17th at 11:00 AM at the Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home located at 101 Union Street in Littleton, NH with Rev. Lyn O. Winter officiating. Burial will be private in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Lisbon.
