Maynard Arnold Rounds, 81, passed away on December 17, 2021 in the comfort of his Vernon home. He was born on April 21, 1940, in Townsend, VT to the late William and Florence (Magoon) Rounds. After high school, Maynard enlisted in the army, serving from 1958 to 1961. Maynard was a lifelong resident of Southern NH and VT. Many will fondly remember Maynard from his many years working at the Smead Lumber Company in Vernon, VT. When not working, Maynard could be found going to car shows. He also loved the outdoors. He spent much time hunting, fishing, and camping in the northeast kingdom. Maynard was a natural woodworker, spending countless hours building tables and wishing wells. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family playing cards. In addition to his parents, Maynard was predeceased by his brother Wilfred, his three daughters Pollyanna, Jean and Joan Rounds and his two grandsons Daniel and Jeramie Rounds. Maynard is survived and will be missed by his son Arnold and his wife Kimberly Rounds, his son Vincent and wife Peggy Rounds, his daughter Jackie Buchanan, his five grandchildren Jessica, Alesia, Justin, Hunter, and Dawson, his three great-grandchildren, Jordana, Jayla, and Ellie, his brother Wayne and his three sisters Lorraine, Barbara and Mildred. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Maynard’s memory can be made to either the White River Junction, VT VA hospital or Vernon, VT Fire Department. A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date. Ker Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium have been entrusted with arrangements.
