Merlene Mary Stillings, 83, of Beattie House, Cottage Street, Littleton, NH, passed away suddenly on November 4, 2009 at her home. She was born in Dalton, NH on December 17, 1925 as Merlene Mary Mooney, daughter of Dexter C. and Agnes (Guyer) Mooney.
In September 1945, she married Harold Stillings. They were happily married 41 years enjoying hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, traveling, and showing horses in addition to raising a large family. Merlene is predeceased by her daughter, Elaine (Benoit) Holmes,
and son, Robert H. Stillings along with her grandson, Justin R. Stillings. She is survived by her son, John W. Stillings and wife, Dawn and her daughters, Alice Mace and Katelynn (Stillings) Watt. Merlene and Harold opened their home to many foster children too.
Merlene loved her grandchildren (13), great-grand children (11), and 1 great, great grandson. She enjoyed watching her family grow, play sports, ride horses, and becoming parents themselves.
The majority of her life she lived in Littleton and happy in the senior communities where she resided. She made many friends who shared her love for bingo, dinners, dances, and travel. She lived life to the fullest. It can be said with assurance that she loved well and was well loved.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 11: 00 a.m. at Cushman Cemetery, Dalton, NH. The interim pastor of the First Congregational Church will officiate.
