Michael H. Daoust

Michael H. Daoust, 54, of Auburn, passed away at his residence on November 11, 2009 after a brief illness surrounded by family and friends. In His Life: He was born in Manchester on November 30, 1954, the son of Maurice and Marilyn (Cote) Daoust. He was a graduate of Manchester Memorial High School, Class of 1972. He co-owned and operated Mohawk Motors with his father before moving on to Ryder Transportation Services in 1979. He had been an Auburn resident for all of his adult life. Michael loved riding motorcycles and volunteering in the community as a Boy Scout den leader and being Santa Claus for local preschools. He built the Auburn Fire Department's first tanker truck (T1). He was always the life of the party, loved telling jokes and making people smile. But he was happiest when helping his family and friends. He was admired by so many for his wealth of knowledge. The only thing more impressive was his ability and willingness to share that knowledge with anyone and everyone. Family members include two sons, Matthew Daoust of Hooksett and Jason Daoust of Auburn; a daughter, Rebecca Caron of Goffstown; four grandchildren; his companion, Cathy Milone of Salem; three sisters, Lyndia Morel, Laurie Servidio and Janine Adams, all of FL; and nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins. A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Unit 110, Bedford, NH 03110.
