Michael Robert Durand passed away on January 29, 2018, at the age of 47 years after a brief illness. He was born on May 21, 1970 in Marlborough, MA., the son of Raymond J. Durand and Rebecca R. Durand.
A resident of Manchester, NH., Michael grew up in Marlborough, MA. He was employed at Fireye Inc., in Derry, NH., for several years as an Account Specialist in the Finance Department.
Michael was introduced to and enjoyed clogging for many years. He transitioned from performer to instructor in which he taught many students the enjoyment and love of clogging. Michael, along with fellow performers, had the honor and opportunity to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, TN. Alongside and beyond clogging, Michael enjoyed painting, traveling, meeting new people, spending time with family and friends, helping others, and enjoying life to its fullest. He was a remarkable man and husband – selfless, and loving and caring with a heart of gold. Michael, most of all, enjoyed spending lots of time with his husband, Stephen Hinman. In addition to the aforementioned interests and passions, Michael had a love for learning, in and out of the classroom.
Michael attended Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, NH., to pursue higher education from an Associate degree to Masters. His most recent endeavor was as an online graduate student. Michael graduated Sunday, May 14, 2017 with the degree of Master of Science in Marketing. He was a member of Phi theta Kappa Honor Society.
In addition to his husband, Michael is survived by his father Raymond R. Durand of Orlando, FL., his mother Rebecca R. Durand of Marlborough, MA., his brother Steven Durand of Fort Lauderdale, FL., and his cousin Paula Durand of Milford, NH.
