Michael Francis Lizak, 77, of Manchester, NH, died suddenly at Elliot Hospital, March 9, 2022. Born July 18, 1944 to the late Matthew and June (Taylor) Lizak of Lawrence, MA, Michael would ultimately marry his best friend and life’s love, Lawrence Donovan. Together they shared what he once described as “51 wonderful years.”
A graduate of Lawrence High School, Michael served in the Marine Corps Reserves. His career included Plant Manager for Ibec Inc. and quality control positions with Velcro USA, Manchester, NH and Raytheon Systems, North Andover, MA. An avid antique collector, Michael was co-owner of Lizak & Donovan Antiques. He was passionate about this hobby turned business.
Family and friends remember Michael as a warm, kind, and fun-loving man. He was fond of “turning a negative into a positive" regardless of the situation. Michael could find a way to enjoy every minute of his time on earth. His loving heart held room for an ever-growing family of friends. Michael was fiercely loyal to family and cherished the people in his life. Of the many things Michael loved to do, photography was a passion that stands out. As the originator of the “sneak attack photograph,” Michael was an opportunistic photographer, able to capture several unique images of celebrities, natural phenomena and special moments, with and without permission. He earned several awards and leaves behind a vast collection of photographs and memories.
Michael enjoyed travelling the world with his husband Larry, collecting antique treasures along the way, and just having fun in his own mischievous way. Above all else, Michael loved his friends and his family immensely, and he will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Michael has joined his parents Matthew and June (Taylor) Lizak, mother-in-law Regina Donovan, step-son Michael E. Donovan, brother-in-law Salvatore J. Alaimo and nephew Jason M. Stys in heaven.
He is survived by his husband, Lawrence J. Donovan; sister, Marie (Lizak) Hodgdon-Alaimo; his nieces and their families, Roxann (Rich) Carter, Mary Elizabeth Stys, Catherine (Peter) McLaughlin, Alice (Stefane) Landry and Leanne Murabito; nephews Mark and Eric Alaimo; as well as extended family members and friends.
