MICHAEL LEE MACEY
LYMAN, NH Michael Lee Macey, age 50, passed away on July 3rd, 2009 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
Michael was born on August 10, 1958, a son to Dave and Jeanine (Inman) Macey, in Houston, TX. He grew up in the Houston area and graduated from MacArthur High School in Houston in 1977. After graduation he went into the US Navy from 1977-1981. During his Navy tour, he visited many countries and always stayed proud to be an American. The flag and the bald eagle were his icons.
In his early childhood, Mike began working in construction until he recognized his passion. He worked for many years in the field o security until graduating from the Houston Police Academy in 1994. He worked as a volunteer police office for the towns of Roman Forest, Wood Branch Village, and Woody way Forest. He also worked for the North Harris Community College as a campus police officer.
On July 4, 1994 he married Nancy St. Hilaire from Augusta, Maine and they lived in New Caney, TX. After having his son, Joshua Ray Macey in November 1997, Mike decided to retire from police work in order to enjoy watching his children grow. He returned to work as a supervisor of security for the Texas Medical Center which encompasses 28 hospitals in the downtown Houston area. From this position he was promoted to Captain of security covering the Houston Medical Center as well as the Post of Houston.
Following a disabling illness in June of 2000, his daughter Montanna Noel Macey was born in September of 2000. After Michaels health improved he became a stay at home Dad o raise the children.
In September 2001 the Maceys moved to Maine returning to Nancys home. Mike quickly became involved in hunting, camping, and fishing in the area. In 2002 he tagged his first moose. Mike also became an avid bird watcher. The family lived in Lewiston, Maine until November 2008 when Mike and the kids moved to Lyman, NH following Nancy after she joined the Littleton Regional Hospital family of employees. In the short time he was here, he made several friends, mostly associated through the Boys and Girls Club of America in Lisbon. He had the opportunity to enjoy some spring fishing before beginning his brief fight with cancer.
Mike leaves behind his wife, Nancy J. Macey; son, Joshua R. Macey, daughter, Montanna N. Macey, his father Dave Lee Macey, and Aunt Norma Sue Schmelling of Texas, an Uncle Travis and several loved pets who will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his mother, Jeanine A. (Inman) Macey, his grandfather, Monty Inman and an Uncle Stuart.
SERVICES Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Sam Newton officiating.
